FAQ

Answers to what you're
most likely asking.

Everything patients and clinics want to know about our tests, timing, and process.

01

MICROBIOME ASSESSMENT

ReproMAP

What is the ReproMAP?

The ReproMAP is our advanced microbiome assessment panel. It tests for all microbes in the vaginal and uterine environments using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) to assess the DNA of each microbe in your sample.

What is the difference between Conceivium's testing and Fertilysis?

While both tests analyze the reproductive microbiome, Conceivium provides highly detailed, species-level results.

An analogy: A competitor’s test will tell you that there is “a room full of dogs.” Our test will tell you that you have 5 dogs — 1 Chihuahua, 1 Black Lab, and 3 Golden Doodles.

This deep species-level clarity tells us exactly what is present in your microbiome, giving your healthcare team much better guidance on what specifically does — or does not — need to be treated.

How much does the ReproMAP test cost?

Female MAP: $999 CAD (+ applicable taxes)
Partner MAP (Both Female & Male): $1,299 CAD (+ applicable taxes)
Retests: $499 CAD (+ applicable taxes)

I already had my microbiome tested through Fertilysis. Can I still do a retest through Conceivium at the "Retest" rate?

Yes. If you have previously tested with Fertilysis, you are fully eligible to transition to Conceivium and pay our lower $499 CAD retest rate for your follow-up assessment.

When should I complete my ReproMAP retest?

We recommend scheduling your retest exactly one (1) month after you have completed your treatment protocol.

Should my partner do the microbiome test too?

It depends on your clinical history. If you are dealing with recurrent infections or have specific fertility concerns, testing your partner provides the broadest diagnostic picture. Because partners can share microbes back and forth, testing both of you helps determine if you are getting reinfected, ensuring your treatment plans are perfectly synchronized.

SAMPLE PREPARATION

Collection & Timing

When during my cycle should I collect my ReproMAP samples?

Because your cycle impacts your microbiome, sample collection must be timed around your cycle:

Menstrual Blood Sample (Female): Collect on Day 1 or Day 2 of your cycle.
Vaginal Swab Sample (Female): Collect at least 24 hours before your cycle starts, OR 48 hours after your period has completely finished.
Male Sample: Collection can be done at any time.

Should I take the swab and the menstrual sample close together?

Yes, they should be collected relatively close together. If you have a highly regular cycle and know your start date, take the swab right before your cycle begins. If your cycle is less consistent, collect the swab 48 hours after your period has completely finished.

How much sample is required for the test?

Half a millilitre of menstrual blood is required — enough blood to cover the bottom of the collection kit.

Does it matter if the male semen sample is fresh or frozen?

It does not matter. The laboratory cools the sample during analysis to safely stop sperm cell activity, which does not affect the microbiological DNA assessment.

How do I store my samples until they are ready to ship?

You can safely keep your collected menstrual blood sample in your home freezer until all other components of your kit (such as the swab) are collected and ready to be shipped back together.

How long can my samples remain frozen before being tested?

For optimal results, your frozen samples should ideally be received and tested by our laboratory within 30 days of collection.

03

IMMUNITY TESTING

Reprommunity

What is the Reprommunity Test?

Reprommunity evaluates the biological compatibility between your immune system and your partner’s immune system — similar to the compatibility matching performed for an organ transplant.

What specific tests are included in the Reprommunity panel?

Our comprehensive immunity panel includes:

• Natural Killer (NK) cell profile
• NK cell cytotoxicity assay
• Th1/Th2 cytokine ratio assay
• Regulatory T-Cell assay (Tregs)
• Leukocyte Antibody Detection Panel (LAD)
• HLA DQA matching between partners
• KIR — HLA-C mismatch

How much blood is required for the Reprommunity test?

We require two (2) vials of blood, per partner.

Does my partner need to do immunity testing?

Our standard panel evaluates both partners’ immune interactions together. One portion of the assessment is female-specific, while the other requires a sample from your partner. We highly recommend that couples completing their first round of testing complete both tests together. For subsequent clinical retests, testing just one partner may be appropriate.

Can I have my Reprommunity blood draw completed at a local clinic near me?

No. Because of the highly sensitive nature of active immune cells, our blood draws must currently be performed in person at our Windsor VRC location to ensure the samples are processed immediately. We are actively working to optimize long-distance shipping solutions for blood draws in the near future.

LOGISTICS

Shipping & Results

How long does it take to get my results back?

Results typically take up to 4 weeks from the date our laboratory receives and registers your physical samples.

How do I receive my kit, and how much is shipping?

You have two convenient options to get your collection kit:

In-Person Pickup (Free): Pick up your testing kit directly from the front desk of a VRC or Conceivium location.

Mail Delivery: We can ship the kit directly to your home. Shipping is $45.00 CAD for one-way, or $75.00 CAD for two-way (which includes a pre-paid return shipping label inside your box).

Can I drop my samples off at a VRC satellite location instead of shipping them?

Yes, you can drop your completed samples off at any VRC satellite location to save on return shipping costs. However, please note that our satellite offices only ship samples back to our primary lab a few times per month. If you choose this option to save on shipping, it may delay your final results.

When do I pay for my testing and shipping?

You will receive a consolidated invoice for your tests (and any applicable shipping fees) once our laboratory has successfully received and logged your samples.

READY TO BOOK?

Book your blood draw.

To schedule your Reprommunity blood draw, call our Windsor reception at the number below and request a Conceivium Immunity Blood Draw. Both partners must be present.
